About Michael Odell
Michael Andrew Odell was more than just a nurse who tragically died by suicide at age 27. Michael was a son, a brother, an uncle and loved by many friends around the world.
Michael earned his ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) at age 20 and wasted no time before gaining CVICU experience in Tulsa, OK. While working as a CVICU RN, Michael earned his BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK — not far from his hometown, Muskogee, OK.
Michael was an avid traveler visiting many countries, immersing himself in different cultures; and learning how to speak Spanish, Swedish, and Italian along the way. He especially took pride in being able to communicate with his patients who also spoke those languages. He enjoyed music festivals and danced like nobody was watching.
Michael loved his family and friends dearly and made that known. In a photo with his two older brothers, Brad and Pat; Michael wrote:
“Cherish the people you love, you never know when they’ll be gone.”
Michael loved to let people know that he loved them and that they matter — and that it is our intention in doing this work to honor those who care for us.
You are loved and you matter.
